2018 has brought many changes here at the ranch. In the beginning of the year, Bonny sold her house, which meant the ranch would be moving. We met with Kevin and Tammy; two amazing people with big hearts for children and animals; a perfect fit for us. So, in March, the horses and donkey’s moved down the road to our new location. At this time, the farrier came out to check up on the horses. The horses continued to settle in and adjust to their new surroundings. In May, we started working with the horses to help them adjust to their new home and started to get them ready for our upcoming programs.
June was a busy month for us. We started to clean and organize our trailers, finalized our program agendas, make props that were needed for the programs and cleaned up the trail in the woods. July and August we had 5 Saturday programs with the children. They had a blast getting a tour of the farm and many kittens got cuddles. There were smiles all around; we even had some of our kids return for a second trip!
September we had our Fall Benefit. Two days before the big event we were busy making decorations and setting up at the church. On the day of our fundraiser, we celebrated the official hand-off of the “lead” from Bonny to Kevin and Tammy. The crowd had a lot of fun and everyone went home full from a great dinner. We were able to raise money to help Lazy B’s Ranch continue to expand and grow. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us, donate, and volunteered to make the event possible.
In November we had our bowling fundraiser at Brooklyn Lanes. Everyone had a blast and the room was filled with glowing clothes, laughter and smiles. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us at our Glow and Bowl fundraiser and for Brooklyn Lanes for having us. Together, we raised over $500 for Lazy B’s Ranch!
December is a busy month for everyone. This year, we partnered with Pioneer Co-Op to make Christmas Cards for the seniors living in facilities. Our first trip out was to Jackson Medical Care Facility on the 18th with Pioneer Co-Op. The residents were very appreciative of the visit and they took turns with the kids’ reading some of the Christmas Cards. The second trip was to Brooklyn Living Center. The residents were excited that we came to visit and gave us a tour of the facility and showed us their decorations for the holidays. It was warming to see so many smiling faces.
We started a coat drive to help those who need coats for the cold Michigan winter coming. Some coats were delivered on December 20th and more will be delivered this year and in January. The coat drive in continuing on until January 17, 2019. If you would like to donate, contact Lazy B’s Ranch at 517-474-1480 to set up a time to drop off.
We wish you all safe travels this holiday season, from our family at Lazy B’s Ranch to yours. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We cannot wait to see what 2019 has in store!
